DropCheck is an applet created specifically for CalArts School of Film/Video’s end of the year film festival, Bijou Fest. CalArts utilizes a shared network of computers using MacOS, and a shared drive called FVCentral, on which students and staff can store and upload files. DropCheck was made to be implemented within that shared drive as an automated submission app, so that when a student dropped their final screening file into the app, the video’s container type, codec, and other important metadata would be checked against the specifications required for screening on the school’s projector. If a student tried submitting a file that did not meet the specifications, they would be asked to re-upload or contact support. The files would then be sorted and copied to the correct folders to be prepped for screening.
